BYD launched the Atto 2 DM-i in June 2026 as SA's most affordable plug-in hybrid at R449,900. The compact crossover claims about 40km of electric range and roughly 930km combined. Comfort and Dynamic grades are offered, both with a 122kW hybrid system.

GAC Emzoom

GAC's volume model arrived in mid-2024 badged GS3 Emzoom, a compact crossover with a 1.5T engine. A price cut in late 2024 and the addition of the entry Nova grade pushed the starting price to R359,900. It carries most of the brand's SA sales.
