The CX-7 brought Mazda's modern SUV styling to South Africa in 2007, powered mainly by a thirsty 2.3 turbo petrol. It gave way to the CX-5 in 2012 and depreciated hard along the way. Used examples are cheap to buy, but fuel bills and turbo maintenance put off cautious buyers.
